If you have always wanted to travel abroad but have never done so, a river cruise is a great way to see alot in one trip. Even if you have been to Europe, you likely haven't seen many of the ports that these cruise ships travel to. I highly recommend river cruising. My clients always rave about their cruises. Below are some things that most river cruises have in common. Happy Traveling!
- Convenient – You will cover lots of area in the course of your cruise. You won’t have to mess with packing and unpacking your suitcase each night to move to a different hotel and city. You won’t be wasting time at train stations to travel to the next city. In most cases you are in port the entire day and visit a different port each day. Plus, most of the time you port right in the city so you can get off the ship and you are ready to see the sights!
- Great value - Many river cruise companies offer free wine and beer with meals, WiFi and included tours at each port. You’ll also get to enjoy local dishes and wine which also provide a great value. In addition, onboard there are activities, presentations and lectures to share information about the culture in the area.
- Fantastic Views - Each cabin has a view of the river and some even have a balcony for you to sit and enjoy the view from your room. The itineraries explore some of the most gorgeous places on earth so you will have plenty to look at from the ship and enjoy.
- Worry free logistics - You don’t have to worry about catching trains or how to get to the next city. There is a concierge on the ship to answer all your questions about the port that day, give dining and shopping recommendations etc. In addition to my assistance before the trip, the staff onboard will make sure you know about the best sites to see so you don’t worry about whether you have missed a must-see sight. They take care of all the details such as connections with tours and transportation.
- Gorgeous ships – Most of these ships are relatively new and are gorgeous! Not only are they beautifully appointed inside, but many have beautiful decks that you can sit outside and enjoy the landscape as you sail on the river. While the ships are beautiful, they are surprisingly casual. There are no formal nights.
- Intimate - River cruise ships are much smaller than the ocean cruise ships. The staff to guest ratio is excellent. Therefore, staff on board will get to know you and take excellent care of you. You’ll also likely make friends with other passengers you’ll want to keep in touch with after your trip is over. Who knows, you may want to take your next cruise with your new friends!
- Geared Towards Adults – River cruise itineraries focus on culture, history and food. This focus tends to attract guests 50 years and older. While some ships are now allowing children, onboard some do not.
